Our Community

Kebun Baru

Kebun Baru is where Cahaya Community began in 2019, starting with the mentorship of 15 students. We’ve since grown to offer a range of academic and extracurricular programs, as well as family support services

Events at Kebun Baru

Character Development Sessions

Disability Pride Month - Mentees were tasked to draw and colour a person they are close to with either their non-dominant hand or with one of their hands placed behind their back.

Appreciation for Migrant workers - Using Forum Theatre as a medium, our mentees learnt about the challenges of migrant workers in Singapore while exploring practical solutions to address them.

Festivities and Celebrations

Throughout the year, we embrace the opportunity to celebrate various festivities together. From a lively and competitive Easter egg hunt to crafting traditional handcrafts during Hari Raya, these celebrations have brought much joy to our weekly mentorship sessions!

Collaborations

SCI@Home - We partnered with NUS Science to create interactive experiments that ignite curiosity about the world and beyond. Our mentees participated in engaging lessons led by NUS, and enjoyed hands-on activities like making their own lava lamps and electromagnet toys!

NTU STEM - We partnered with NTU STEM, where our mentees explored 3D printing and had the opportunity to build their own models.
