Kok Leong

Lye Kok Leong is a passionate educator, a loving husband and father, a published author and a dedicated lawyer.

Kok Leong is instrumental in the piloting and subsequent development of the INSPIRE mentorship program in Kebun Baru. He worked with many stakeholders to pull off the pilot and the holiday programs in collaboration with schools. The continuous growth of the program over the years birthed Cahaya Community. It was a Lion King moment for him.

In Cahaya Community, Kok Leong contributes in the areas of volunteer education, training, and development. Beyond academics, Kok Leong inspires volunteers through motivating stories of courage and persistence, seasoned with his inquisitive questions that challenge our past ideas and beliefs. It is a never dull moment when Kok Leong is around.

Kok Leong is the co-founder of BlackBox Learning Centre where he also serves as the principal English and Science specialist. The center is a Cahaya Community organizational partner. He believes that the young people of today should lead the way to shape the world they want to live in tomorrow. He is a passionate advocate of the idea that Peer Mentorship builds unstilted relationships that bind mentors and beneficiaries to a common higher purpose.

When he is not inspiring young minds and fellow volunteers, Kok Leong enjoys doing manual labor around the house and office. He has a natural penchant for doing stand-up comedy unexpectedly.

We at Cahaya Community deeply respect Kok Leong for the strength of his conviction and his remarkable resilience, and we certainly welcome his comedy anytime, anywhere!
